Building a luxurious second home on a hill
This custom vacation home in Townsend was a long-term goal for our clients, and from our first meeting, it was clear how much intention had gone into the vision. The couple had the finishes selected before construction began, which allowed Debuty Builders, Inc. to focus on executing every detail with care and precision.
Foundation on a Steep Grade
The homesite presented real challenges. With an approximate 52 percent grade, excavation and foundation work required careful coordination and experienced crews. Forming the poured concrete foundation walls on such a steep slope was a significant undertaking. Backfilling the basement slab required pumping and the use of a rock spreader to achieve proper compaction and long-term stability. Due to the terrain and clearing requirements, we engineered and installed a drip septic system specifically for the property.
Intentional Materials
Exterior materials were selected for durability and peace of mind. Hardie siding provides enhanced fire resistance, an important consideration after the 2016 Gatlinburg and Sevier County fires. Timber beams and posts add structural strength and character, while the black 30-year architectural shingle roof, 6-inch black gutters, and Pella windows and sliders complete a high-performance exterior built to last.
Year-round outdoor living
This gorgeous custom home was designed to be enjoyed year-round. The back deck includes a fireplace and an aluminum screened-in porch, creating a comfortable outdoor living space in every season. Hogwire handrails preserve the views while maintaining safety and clean lines. Additional features such as the hot tub, shuffleboard area, EV car charger, and secure safe vault door add both convenience and personality to the home.
Detailed Planning
Inside, the craftsmanship reflects the homeowner’s detailed planning. Faux beams frame the main living area and draw attention to the full stone gas fireplace that anchors the space. The kitchen features natural stain wood cabinetry, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and durable LVP flooring throughout the home. Each bedroom includes its own electric fireplace, offering guests a private and comfortable retreat. Bathrooms are finished with high-end tile showers and a private sauna, creating a true spa-like experience.
